MEDIA 160 BLOG 3 Analyzing a Scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsiqCAL-9SU For Blog 3 I’ve chosen to analyze Episode 2 of Broad City on youtube titled “Abbi Gets Back into Pot”. The clip begins with a title card saying “previously on”, then cuts to an exterior shot of apartment windows at night time. It then cuts to a medium two shot of the main characters Abbi and Illana sitting on a couch. It then cuts to a title card for the show with music. Then it cuts to another medium shot of the girls on the couch but more of an over the shoulder shot from Illana’s side of the couch, and zooms in on Abbi’s reaction. The next shot is a closer two shot, with around 30 degrees of an angle change from the previous shot, but still on Illana’s side of the couch. It’s filmed handheld so within the shots throughout the show the camera person will zoom in on reactions of Abbi. There’s another CU cut to Abbi before finally they cut to a POV of what their watching on TV. Then back to a CU of Illana’s reaction on the couch. Then back to a medium two with a zoom in at the end of the shot. About midway through the clip they cut to an exterior of a convenience store at night (we see the girls walk in). The next shot is a POV from the clerk at the Deli of Abbi and Illana piling massive amounts of candy onto the counter. Then it flips to a zoom in shot from medium to CU of the clerks reaction. Then a handheld close up shot of the candy and up to the girls back on the catch. It ends with the same shot it started with, an exterior of two glowing apartment windows at night time, though this time, they start close on the windows and slowly zoom out before ending the episode with credits and music. :)
